Scope Creep — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 8 September 2026
The short version
Scope Creep does not collect anything about you and sends nothing to us. There is no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, no advertising ID, no account to create, and no server of ours for your data to sit on. Everything the game remembers is a file on your own device.
What the game stores on your device
These stay on your device. They are never transmitted to us.
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Settings — volume, frame cap, UI scale, camera speed, reduced motion, language | So the game opens the way you left it |
| Key and gamepad bindings | So your remapped controls survive a restart |
| Saved games — four slots, plus an autosave slot | So you can continue a game |
| Anonymous play statistics — games played and won, per-profession tallies, best score, turn-length buckets | Shown to you on the “Your record” screen |
| One flag recording that online play has been unlocked (mobile only) | So a purchase survives restarting the game |
None of these contains your name, an account identifier, an email address, a device identifier, or your location. The statistics file holds counters only — there is no name field in it anywhere.
Deleting the game removes all of it. Nothing is left behind on our side because there is no our side.
Permissions the Android version asks for
Internet access, and nothing else. No microphone, no camera, no location, no contacts, no storage, no phone state, no advertising ID.
Online play
The Google Play version has no online play today. Its multiplayer runs on Steam, and the Steam libraries are not part of the Android build, so on Android there is no player identifier, no lobby, no chat, and no voice. This section describes the Steam version.
When you play online on Steam:
- Your Steam ID is your identity on the wire. It is in every packet and is published in the lobby’s seat order so the game knows who sits where.
- Room information you type or choose is published to Steam’s matchmaking servers — the room name, the random seed, the rule settings, the chosen professions, and the seat order. Anyone browsing the public room list can read it. Do not type anything private into a room name.
- Typed chat and voice chat go to the other players at your table. They pass through Steam’s networking, which may route them via Valve’s relay servers depending on your connection. We never receive, store, or record either one. Chat lines exist only in memory while the game is running; microphone audio is sent and discarded frame by frame and is never written to disk.
- Your Steam display name is read from your own Steam client to draw the roster. It is not put into any packet or any lobby field by us — other players’ games read their names from their own Steam clients the same way.
- Achievements are recorded against your Steam account by Steam, which is how Steam achievements work for every game.
The microphone is only opened when four things are true at once: you are seated at an online table, you are in a room, the Voice audio channel is switched on — it is off by default — and you are either holding the talk button or have deliberately turned on open-mic, which is also off by default.
Steam is operated by Valve Corporation and has its own privacy policy.
Purchases
On Google Play, unlocking online play is a one-time purchase handled entirely by Google Play Billing. We never see your payment details — not your card, not your billing address, not your name. The game asks Google whether this account owns the unlock, and stores the yes/no answer on your device. Nothing else about the purchase is stored or logged.
Google’s handling of the payment is covered by Google’s privacy policy.
Log files and support
The game writes a normal Unity log file on your device, and there is a button in the settings screen that opens the folder holding it. That button opens a folder; it does not send anything anywhere. If you choose to send a log to us for support, please be aware that a log from an online session can contain the Steam IDs of the other players who were at your table. Look at the file before you post it in public.
Children
Scope Creep is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect anything from anyone, of any age — because it does not collect anything at all. The Steam version lets adults type and speak to other players in public rooms; the only moderation available in the game is muting a seat, which affects only your own client.
Your rights
Data-protection laws give you the right to see, correct, export, or delete the personal data a company holds about you. We hold none, so there is nothing for us to show or erase. Everything is on your device and under your control: clear it by deleting the game.
Changes
If the game starts doing something this document does not describe — the planned mobile online play is the obvious candidate, since it will need an account of some kind — this document will be updated before that version ships, and the date at the top will change.
